No, this doesn’t mean you go to Mike Tyson, receive a right-handed uppercut, make your vision blurry, then view ‘one’ customer as thousands.
In fact that might get you out of business.
I’m talking about how you can lead a customer to multiply the number of customers you receive every day, week, month, or year (like a buy one, get one free deal—except you get 9,999+ times that amount).
Many local businesses think that getting customers to be satisfied is the end-all-be-all to growing their customer base.
I’m here to tell you that there’s way more to it than a happy customer and a 5-star review.
So sit back, take 3 minutes to read through this article because it’ll change the way you think about business forever—you won’t treat each customer the same.
Customer Satisfaction Isn’t Enough
“Customer satisfaction is our top priority!”
Ladies and gentleman, if this is you, please get a lighter and burn this thought off your brain cells.
Why?
Because like anything in life, if you want something outstanding (like getting thousands of customers for your business), you need to BE outstanding.
I guarantee you that one of your competitors is also trying to keep customers ‘satisfied’.
Mediocre goals won’t help you achieve outstanding results.
You have to STAND OUT.
Take Amazon for example.
You’ll find it HARD to talk bad about that company.
That’s because they make it HARD for their customers to forget the awesome things they did for them.
I mean how on Earth will you forget the name of the company that delivered your purchase within the same day of your order all while maintaining tip-top packaging quality.
If Amazon delivered strictly ‘on time’ like all the other companies, they wouldn’t be the BEST in the online shopping game.
Instead, they deliver the earliest.
It makes customers REMEMBER them.
That's why they outstand their competitors (eBay, Shopify, etc.).
How You Can Implement Amazon’s Strategy Into Your Business
Imagine if a customer left you a $1,000 tip.
You’d probably tell everyone you know about it (might even attempt to reach out to your great-grandparents).
If that customer comes back a year later, you cannot tell me that you won’t recognize them.
Near impossible.
Now imagine if you were to reverse the roles:
You're the tipper, the customer is receiving the tip.
Same case except this time the customer will remember you.
Now you may be thinking:
“What would be the benefit if the customer remembers me?”
Referrals!
People love talking about good things that happen in their life.
If you were to give each customer that $1,000 tip, they would tell everyone they know about it.
Might eventually have everyone in the city hoarding you at the door for that $1,000.
Obviously, you’re not a magician—you don’t have free money to give away to people.
In your realistic situation, that tip would instead be an outstanding service you provide customers—similar to Amazon’s same-day delivery service.
This is how you become the BEST in your field.
You make people REMEMBER you—that’s how they become loyal.
Not only will they recommend you to their family and friends, they’ll stick with you because they want to, not because they have to.
Aim for loyal customers, not satisfied ones.
Easiest Way To Get Loyal Customers
Business is like social status:
If you want to be exceptional, you NEED to stand out.
Do such an amazing thing for people that it makes it HARD for them to forget you.
And it may sound counterintuitive but aiming for customer satisfaction will only keep you as an average local business.
The more you stand out, the more loyal customers you’ll get.
One of the easiest ways to stand out nowadays is to have solid marketing for your business.
Amazon constantly has millions of loyal customers coming back to buy from them. If they didn’t properly promote their same-day delivery service, nobody would know about it.
You NEED to spread the message about your outstanding service.
And it has to be targeted towards the right people, at the right place, at the right time.
